Share your voice and experiences on AMA-SPS Facebook page

Comment on important issues affecting senior physicians across the country by viewing the AMA Senior Physicians Section (SPS) Facebook page. Here are two of the discussion topics you'll find there:

  • Retirement on the Horizon? – Thoughtful planning is the key to a happy and successful transition to retirement. Let us know what you have in store, whether it's part-time work, mentoring, or a unique combination of volunteer and leisure activities. Feel free to post questions if you are seeking special information.
  • Grassroots Political Activity – Have you or your senior group partnered with another organization to advocate on behalf of an issue? Let us know how you've made a difference in your community.

All senior physicians are invited to participate in the discussions. Email Alice Reed of the AMA with suggestions for other discussion topics.

Introduce med students to your specialty at next AMA House of Delegates meeting

Help the next generation of physicians learn more about the medical specialties they can pursue by participating in a June showcase event immediately preceding the Annual Meeting of the AMA House of Delegates in Chicago.

The AMA Medical Student Section's 10th annual Medical Specialty Showcase will take place June 15, giving physicians and medical residents with experience in the field an excellent opportunity to help medical students in their career decision-making process. It also is a chance to mentor future doctors and to encourage them to become active participants in your specialty organizations after graduation.

If you would like to participate in the event, partner with interested colleagues in your specialty or encourage your medical specialty society to host an exhibit. The online registration form (AMA login required) is open through May 17, and participation is free. The event will take place at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, the same location as the AMA House of Delegates meeting, and will end in time for participating delegates to attend the opening of the House.

Email Katherine Torres-Hertz of the AMA for more information.
