News for International Medical Graduates
Submit your research abstract by Aug. 19
Are you certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) and waiting for a residency program position? If so, take advantage of an opportunity to present your original research to your colleagues from around the country at the 2013 AMA Research Symposium Nov. 15.
All AMA medical students, residents, fellows and ECFMG-certified international medical graduates (IMG) are welcome to submit abstracts for consideration.
Taking place this year in National Harbor, Md., at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, the symposium is hosted annually by the AMA Medical Student Section, the AMA Resident and Fellow Section and the AMA-IMG Section. Each section holds a separate competition within the event and provides unique mentor, research and professional presentation skill building opportunities for just about everyone in the medical profession.
The abstract submission deadline for residents, fellows and IMGs awaiting residency is 11:59 p.m. Eastern time Aug. 19. Be sure to review the submission guidelines before submitting your research. Please do not wait until the last minute; submit your abstracts before Aug. 19.
The research symposium is open to AMA members only. If you're not a member, join today to be part of this dynamic research and mentoring experience. If you have any questions, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call Carolyn Carter-Ellis of the AMA at (312) 464-5397.
AMA-IMG Section Virtual Congress begins Aug. 28
All members of the AMA International Medical Graduates (IMG) Section are eligible to testify and vote on submitted section resolutions for consideration at the AMA Interim Meeting, which will be held Nov. 15–19 in National Harbor, Md.
You will receive an email when the Virtual Congress is open (Aug. 28–Sept. 6) for testimony and voting. After the Virtual Congress concludes, the AMA-IMG Section Governing Council will consider all submitted testimony and votes in order to finalize or amend the resolve clauses and adopt resolutions.
AMA-IMG Section members will have the opportunity to vote on the final version or action taken on these resolutions Sept. 13-20. Help the section shape AMA policies and directives by providing your testimony and votes in August and September.
If you have any questions about this process, send an email to email@example.com or call Carolyn Carter-Ellis of the AMA at (312) 464-5397.
