Deadline extended to Feb. 1 for AMA-YPS Young at Heart Award

The AMA Young Physicians Section (YPS) is continuing to accept nominations for the 2013 AMA-YPS Young at Heart Award, which will be presented at the Annual Meeting of the AMA House of Delegates in June.

Nominees must be AMA members who are not eligible for section membership but whose support and guidance have strengthened the Young Physicians Section. Submit a nomination form today. Nominations are due Feb. 1 and must come from an AMA-YPS Assembly member. Email the AMA-YPS for more information.

Call for nominations to AMA councils and committees

The AMA is soliciting nominations for AMA members to fill open positions on the AMA councils for 2013.

View open positions and instructions on the nomination process. The deadline for nominations is March 15.

The AMA is committed to promoting diversity in every facet of organized medicine and encourages nomination of qualified women physicians, minority physicians and international medical graduates for AMA council positions.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars: Call for applications

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs are collaborating to foster the development of physicians who will lead the transformation of Americans' health and health care through the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars program.

These future leaders will conduct innovative research and work with communities, organizations, practitioners and policymakers to address issues essential to the health and well-being of all Americans.

To be eligible, physicians must be committed to a career in academic medicine, public health, health policy or another career congruent with the program's purposes and priorities of developing physician leaders and skilled researchers. The deadline for submission of applications is 5 p.m. Eastern time Feb. 28.
