Webinar to examine AMA physician employment principles

New AMA guidance can help employed physicians in their daily practice of medicine. Learn how by participating in a Jan. 30 webinar presented by a physician and a panel of expert health law attorneys. Register today.

Jointly sponsored by the AMA and the American Bar Association, the webinar will examine the newly adopted AMA Principles for Physician Employment and their application to real-world situations in which the interests of employers may differ from those of physicians and their patients.

Panelists will discuss such topics as conflicts of interest, physician advocacy on behalf of patients, hospital medical staff relations, peer review and performance evaluations, contracting, and payment agreements. Physicians will be able to participate in a question-and-answer period as well. The webinar begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time Jan. 30 and will last 90 minutes.

Physicians can earn continuing medical education credit in the form of 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ by participating in this webinar. Registration is free for AMA members; nonmembers can sign up for $45. If you're not an AMA member, join today.

The AMA Principles for Physician Employment are intended to help physicians, those who employ physicians and their respective advisers identify and address some of the unique challenges employment can present to professionalism and the practice of medicine. Adopted in November by the AMA House of Delegates, the principles are grounded in AMA policy and the AMA Code of Medical Ethics.

Additional resources for employed physicians are available on the AMA website.
