News for Senior and Retired Physicians
Travel abroad with your fellow senior physicians this summer
AMA member physicians can take advantage of a wide variety of travel opportunities available through AHI Travel, the AMA's travel partner.
Members can spend time traveling with their fellow physicians on land- or cruise-based excursions to such countries as France, China, Russia, Holland and Belgium (left). Tours range from eight to 14 days and include optional excursions to add-in at your leisure.
Trips are open to all physician members, spouses and family members and can sell out six months in advance of the departure date. Visit the AMA Senior Physicians Section travel Web page to learn more about trips available this year.
If you're an AMA member, don't pass up this valuable benefit for group discounted rates for travel. If you're not a member, join the AMA today and begin receiving them.
Enjoying a strong second act in life? Submit a nomination for the Purpose Prize
Senior physicians involved in creating new ways to solve pressing social issues are encouraged to apply for the Purpose Prize, a $100,000 grant from Encore.org aimed at supporting social innovators in the second half of life.
Five awards are available, and nominations are due April 4. Applicants must be community leaders who are age 60 years or older. The AMA Senior Physicians Section encourages senior physicians who meet this criteria to submit a nomination.
Encore.org is a nonprofit organization that promotes work in the second half of life that combines continued income, greater personal meaning and social impact. Learn more by visiting Encore.org.
