News for Academic Physicians
Encourage trainees to apply for research symposium
The deadline for physicians in training to apply for the 2013 AMA Research Symposium is 11:59 p.m. Central time Thursday. Encourage your medical students, residents and fellows to submit their research for consideration.
Hundreds of AMA member medical students, resident and fellow physicians, and international medical graduates certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates from around the country will be sharing original research with their colleagues during the symposium, to be held Nov. 15 in National Harbor, Md., at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center.
In addition, physicians—particularly academic physicians and medical school faculty—are invited to apply to serve as judges for this competitive event. Judges will evaluate podium presentations from 4 to 5:15 p.m. and/or poster presentations from 5 to 6 p.m. Nov. 15. AMA members also are invited to attend a reception from 6 to 7:30 p.m. RSVP now.
Mentor students, residents via new AMA program
Young physician members of the AMA can encourage the next generation of physicians in career and leadership development through an online AMA mentorship program.
The AMA Mentorship Initiative pairs medical students, residents and fellows with young physicians for a 12-month mentorship that is designed to foster career advancement and leadership development in organized medicine.
