Stronger economy stimulates doctor turnover

A recent article in American Medical News noted that it is easier for a physician to leave an employed situation than a practice position, which might require selling an ownership stake.

Many older physicians are deciding to retire rather than invest time and money at the end of their careers to adapt to new regulations such as the the electronic health records meaningful use program, said David Butsch, MD, liaison to the AMA Senior Physicians Governing Council.
