Comment on performance measures white paper

Share your thoughts about a white paper that looks at standards for evaluating patient-reported outcome (PRO)-based performance measures. Comments are due via an online survey by 6 p.m. Eastern time Nov. 20.

Developed by the AMA-convened Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement® (PCPI®), the white paper identifies five purposes for which PROs are used in performance evaluation and recommends 13 methodological standards. The findings reveal that understanding the patient perspective is an essential component of performance evaluation. However, the authors note that rigorous measurement strategies should be employed to ensure that lessons learned are valid, feasible, actionable and meaningful to decision-makers.
