Match revamps placement of students not selected initially
The National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) is administering a new system to link unmatched students with unfilled residency positions this year. The NRMP's new Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program is designed to provide more equality for students who aren't selected for a residency in the main Match by creating a formal process for applying for unfilled positions.
The program will be implemented this year. Match Day is March 16; view this year's Match Week schedule.
Although the program's policies are largely the same as those vetted with NRMP constituents during the past three years, the Monday schedule has been modified slightly. The Electronic Residency Application Service will open at 1 p.m. Eastern time (rather than noon) so that applicants can begin preparing applications that will be sent to programs beginning at 2 p.m.
Visit the NRMP website for more on the Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program as well as a webcast about it.
