AMA-IMG Congress, Candidates Forum, Caucus set for this weekend

If you're still interested in attending this year's AMA International Medical Graduates (IMG) Section's 15th annual Congress and Candidates Interview Forum, on-site registration will take place until the events begin Friday at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.

AMA Board of Trustees candidates will be interviewed, the slate of officers for the 2013 AMA-IMG Governing Council will be ratified and discussion of the House of Delegates business items will take place.

Also, be sure to attend "Negotiation and the gender divide: The power to get what you really want," on Saturday. Sara Laschever, co-author of the book "Women Don't Ask: Negotiation and the Gender Divide," will lead the session, which is co-sponsored by the AMA-IMG Section, the AMA Minority Affairs Section and the AMA Women Physicians Congress.

The AMA-IMG Section Caucus will take place Saturday evening. Russell Robertson, MD, chair of the Council on Graduate Medical Education, will provide an update on the future of graduate medical education. In addition, attorney Kristen Harris will provide an update on immigration trends. Harris is the advocacy co-chair of the IMG Taskforce, a national non-profit organization advocating for legal improvements for foreign national IMGs and the health care systems that employ them.

Visit the AMA-IMG Section Web page for more details about the meeting and the events during it. The meeting will take place in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the AMA House of Delegates. Learn more about the Annual Meeting.
