Prepare for residency program interviews with new initiative

AMA member international medical graduates are invited to participate in mock residency program interviews set up this winter by the AMA International Medical Graduates (IMG) Section and the AMA Resident and Fellow Section. AMA member residents, fellows or established physicians also are needed to serve as volunteer interviewers.

Only a limited number of requests will be accepted from IMGs who have interviews scheduled for the 2013 National Resident Matching Program. Interviews may be conducted face-to-face, via Skype or over the phone. Guidelines and expectations will be provided to IMG interviewees and volunteer interviewers, along with some sample interview questions.

IMG interviewees
Interviewees interested in participating should email the AMA-IMG Section with their curricula vitae attached to the email and the following information within the body of the email:

  • Full name
  • City and state
  • Email address
  • Skype name
  • Mobile number
  • List of specialties with which they have interviews scheduled
  • Date(s) of those interview(s)

Only requests containing all of this information will be considered for this program. Selected participants will be notified by email if they are matched to a volunteer interviewer this winter.

Volunteer interviewers
Volunteer interviewers should email the following information by Dec. 31:

  • Full name
  • City and state
  • Medical specialties
  • Email address
  • Mobile number
  • Skype name

Volunteers also should note the number of interviews they are willing to conduct this winter.

These invitations are open to AMA members only. If you're not a member, join today.
