Streamline claims processing with time-of-service payment

One effective way to simplify your claims process is to accept patient payments at the time of service. A new collection of AMA resources can show you how.

The AMA's new point-of-care pricing toolkit explains how to use newly available electronic patient-specific insurance eligibility information to notify your patients of their payment responsibility and accept payment at the time of service.

Three archived webinars also guide physicians in implementing time-of-service payment as a standard part of the claims process.

In addition, AMA members can access sample scripts (AMA login required) for practice staff to use in their interactions with patients to ensure they understand their payment options and the practice's policies.

Opioid overdose, public health response examined in webinar

With unintentional overdoses and deaths from prescription painkillers on the rise, the AMA is hosting a continuing medical education webinar to examine this troubling trend and the nation's public health response.

The webinar, which is scheduled for 1 p.m. Eastern time Dec. 12, will feature speakers from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention giving an overview of the epidemiology of prescription drug overdoses and deaths. Participants will learn about factors associated with an increased risk in unintentional overdoses from opioids as well as public policy and clinical practice strategies to promote responsible opioid prescribing.

The second webinar in a free 12-part series intended to help physicians develop skills to manage patients with persistent pain while prescribing opioid drugs safely and effectively, this webinar is available for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Each webinar in the series will be archived for on-demand viewing.
