Free JAMA articles examine West Nile virus outbreak
Two new Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) articles explore the current outbreak of the West Nile virus infection, which has become a public health concern in various states—including Texas, Louisiana, Alabama and Oklahoma—and parts of the Midwest.
One article, written by Robert W. Haley, MD, of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, details how to control the infection in urban areas, and a JAMA Patient Page article alerts the public about symptoms to watch for and how to avoid contracting the virus. Both articles are available for free.
