AMA CEO among publication's 100 most influential people in health care
AMA CEO and Executive Vice President James L. Madara, MD (left), was named one of the 100 most influential people in health care by Modern Healthcare this week.
The honorees were deemed by their peers and an expert panel to be the most influential individuals in the industry in terms of leadership and impact. Others on the list include U.S. Surgeon General Regina Benjamin, MD, and journalist and Harvard professor Atul Gawande, MD.
Under Dr. Madara's leadership, the AMA has launched a new strategic plan focused on three areas:
- Improving health outcomes
- Accelerating change in medical education
- Enhancing physician satisfaction and practice sustainability by shaping delivery and payment models
Earlier this year, Dr. Madara was recognized by Modern Healthcare and Modern Physician magazines as one of the nation's 50 most influential physician executives in health care for 2012.
