Members: Share your thoughts about the AMA's new strategic direction

What do you think of the AMA's new strategic direction and its refined focus? AMA members are invited to submit their feedback.

A brief online form (AMA login required) makes it easy for AMA members to share their thoughts regarding the new strategic direction, which was unveiled in June at the Annual Meeting of the AMA House of Delegates.

As part of the new strategic direction, the AMA is sharpening its focus on three areas:

  • Improving health outcomes. The AMA will seek to demonstrate improvements in clinical and patient-reported outcomes, ensure health equity, reduce unwarranted variation in care, advance the quality and safety of health care, and contribute to the appropriate use of finite health care resources.
  • Accelerating change in medical education. This work will be centered on bridging the gap between how physicians are currently being trained and the future needs of our health care system.
  • Shaping payment and delivery models to enhance physician satisfaction. The goal is to help physicians in all practice environments navigate the transformation in delivery and payment by identifying, shaping and promoting models that demonstrate high-quality care and value while enhancing professional satisfaction and practice sustainability.

The new direction is intended to help the AMA bring a tighter focus to its efforts and concentrate on work that will have the greatest benefit for physicians and patients.
