Health care ad calls for reform

Health care ad calls for reform

A group of five organizations with health care agendas have brought the fictitious Harry and Louise back to their kitchen table in a new television advertisement that says the next president should "bring everyone to the table and make [health system reform] happen."

The original ads were sponsored by the Health Insurance Assn. of America and voiced opposition to the health reform plan championed in 1993 by then-first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton and President Bill Clinton. The new ad, which ran nationwide during the Democratic and Republican conventions, is sponsored by patient advocacy groups the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network and Families USA, the American Hospital Assn., the Catholic Health Assn. and the National Federation of Independent Business.

The ad features the same actors playing the now-famous couple but do not reference any one plan. It can be viewed online (www.harryandlouisereturn.com).
