American Medical News is on the air. March 26 was the premiere date of "American Medical News on ReachMD," a program on XM Satellite Radio. The program is an encapsulation of the most current edition of AMNews and includes stories from each of its four news sections: Government & Medicine, Professional Issues, Business, and Health & Science. The stories include taped interviews with the newsmakers and physicians involved in issues affecting practice life. The program airs four times daily on Northbrook, Ill.-based ReachMD (XM 233), a newly created 24-hour channel for medical professionals. "American Medical News on ReachMD" also will be available for download on the AMNews Web site (www.amednews.com/radio). "Our partnership with ReachMD creates another effective way for the AMA and American Medical News to deliver important medical news to health care professionals," said AMA Chief Marketing Officer Gary C. Epstein. "American Medical News has long been a trusted news source for physicians, and we're excited to extend this news to a new nationwide audience." ReachMD founder David Preskill, MD, an obstetrician-gynecologist practicing in Libertyville, Ill., called AMNews a "cornerstone" of the channel, which features physician roundtables and other health programming aimed at doctors only.
