Where is the flu?

Quick View. Dec. 11, 2006.

Influenza is cropping up on a local or sporadic basis across the country.

"As always, influenza is unpredictable," said Julie Gerberding, MD, MPH, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention during a November briefing, "so we're not going to be able to say how fast it's going to evolve, where it will hit next ... [or] how serious it will be." The CDC and other public health agencies are encouraging flu vaccination efforts to continue in the weeks ahead. The CDC tracks flu activity, updates outbreaks regularly and posts the information online (www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly).
