BUSINESSNews in brief - April 4, 2005HealthSouth to miss filing deadline HealthSouth to miss filing deadlineHealthSouth Corp. has announced it will not file its 2004 annual financial report with the Securities and Exchange Commission on time due to its ongoing accounting review and restatement efforts. The outpatient services giant said on March 17 that it would likely file the 2004 Form 10-K in the fourth quarter of this year. The company said it expects to file annual reports for the years 2000 through 2003 in the second quarter of this year. HealthSouth had previously announced that some of its past financial statements couldn't be trusted due to an accounting scandal at the company. Federal prosecutors have alleged that company executives artificially inflated earnings by roughly $2.7 billion.
