Average hourly on call pay varies by specialty and whether the doctor stays on site.

More hospitals and medical groups are paying physicians for on-call work, according to a survey by Sullivan, Cotter and Associates, a Detroit-based human resource and management consulting firm. About 40% of the 180 respondents said they provided on-call pay, compared with 28% in last year's survey.
