Nov. 10, 2003. ![]() Health care information technology spending will grow at an annual rate of 7% over a five-year period ending in 2006, according to a recent report by Gartner Inc. The Stamford, Conn.-based technology consulting firm said several factors will lead physicians, hospitals and insurers to boost their spending on technology, including pressure to reduce costs, inability to hire qualified technology professionals, and a desire to standardize and implement new clinical and financial information systems.
