GOVERNMENTPublic: More Medicare drug benefitsQuick View. Sept. 8, 2003.
Medicare prescription drugs are a hot issue in Washington, D.C., but on average only 47% of the general public know of the competing proposals. Yet a majority of the general public want Congress to adopt a more liberal package than the House and Senate bills now in negotiation. In a recent poll, people were asked whether these proposals should pass even though they would still leave many seniors with big out-of-pocket costs or whether the proposals should be dropped in favor of a more generous benefit, even if it is unlikely to pass.
