The Pennsylvania Medical Society recently released statistics showing specialists are leaving the state -- one of the first to be identified by the AMA as in a medical liability insurance crisis. Also in Pennsylvania:
- 29 of the state's 67 counties are experiencing or approaching shortages of primary care physicians.
- 40 other states in 2000 had a higher percentage of physicians younger than 35. In 1989, only 11 states did.
