Guideline resource growing - Health plan report cards online

Guideline resource growing

Washington -- In one year, the National Guideline Clearinghouse has tripled in size.

Now more than 700 evidence-based guidelines submitted by 125 medical societies, health care organizations, other associations and federal agencies are provided through its Web site (http://www.guideline.gov/).

The site -- a joint project of the AMA, the American Assn. of Health Plans, and the federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality -- allows physicians and other clinicians to perform detailed searches and create tabular comparisons of guidelines on similar subjects.

Health plan report cards online

Washington -- Detailed report cards on health plans' clinical performance, member satisfaction, access to care and overall quality are now easily accessible on the Web. The National Committee for Quality Assurance is providing free access to its plan evaluations on its Web site (http://www.ncqa.org/). Users may search by plan name, location, area code or plan type, and receive a quality report on all accredited health plans that match the criteria.
