Patient safety research grants offered
Chicago -- The National Patient Safety Foundation at the AMA is requesting letters of intent for proposals from researchers at educational and other nonprofit institutions in the United States and Canada for studies that enhance patient safety.
The letters of intent are the first step in the foundation's two-step annual research grant process that will culminate in the awarding of up to four grants of $100,000. The deadline for submission is March 29.
This is the third consecutive year that NPSF has awarded research grants for projects focused on improving patient safety. Past research topics that received funding include investigations into how physicians acquire clinical expertise, minimizing drug names that look or sound alike, and a study into the use of simulation to improve error detection and recovery.
Letters of intent must be no longer than five pages and must be submitted with the content and format described in the Request for Research Proposals, found at the NPSF Web site
(http://www.npsf.org/).
