As the leading force for Medicare reform in Washington, D.C., the AMA advocates for corrections in the structure of the Medicare physician payment program and enactments of stable and adequate annual Medicare physician payment updates for physicians.
Physicians can make use of the AMA’s Medicare Physician Payment Action Kit which provides a detailed outlook of how each state fares with the current legislation.
The AMA is dedicated to making sure America’s seniors have continued access to quality health care. That’s why, despite a presidential veto, we persevered in our advocacy efforts, which played an instrumental role in the passage of H.R. 6331, the “Medicare Improvement for Patients and Providers Act of 2008” in July. We continue to work alongside Congress to develop a long-term solution to the Medicare physician payment system.
