Program description
This program provides physicians with a broad overview of health disparities among racial and ethnic minority patients and strategies to enhance the services for diverse patients, including how to build trust and address language barriers. Physicians will also learn about the practice of racial and ethnic data collection to improve patient care. Physicians will observe these startegies in practice preventing and treating cardiovascular disease.

Intended audience
This continuing medical education program is intended for primary care physicians, residents, and medical students.

Learning objectives

• Identify and apply appropriate startegies to reduce racial and ethnic health care disparities both in practice and in the community.
• Describe how to improve the health care of patients with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) including racial and ethnic minority patients.

The American Medical Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Designation statement
