Upon completion of this module, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the importance of addressing tobacco dependence in patients with a mental illness or substance use disorder
  • Describe the 5 A's and 2 A's and an R -- actionable strategies for medical professionals to address tobacco dependence
  • Describe the five keys to cessation for the patient

The American Medical Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The American Medical Association designates this enduring material for a maximum of .5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
