Selecting a Practice Management System Toolkit
AMA-MGMA selecting a Practice Management System toolkit
For many physician practices, purchasing an appropriate practice management system (PMS) can be a daunting task. Yet most physician practices will be required to significantly upgrade or replace their current practice management system software in response to health care industry developments like the Medicare and Medicaid electronic health record incentive program and the ongoing transitions to ICD-10-CM and the 5010 version of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) electronic standard transactions.
That’s why the AMA and the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) have collaborated to develop this toolkit. Here you’ll find a roadmap for selecting and purchasing the most appropriate PMS software for your practice. You can use this information to establish your practice’s organizational needs and take advantage of recent improvements in automation.
