Health Insurer Settlements
The AMA has compiled pertinent information on past settlements pertaining to individual health insurers. Commencing with the historic Multi-District Litigation (MDL) settlements—in which the major national for-profit health insurers agreed to change their business practices and eliminate numerous problematic activities—organized medicine has continued to be instrumental in obtaining judicial relief from managed care abuses. Although these settlements have expired, they still provide important historical information.
