File a complaint
Speak up! Your voice will be heard! The AMA offers numerous ways for physicians to register their complaints about health insurers and other payers. Physicians can use the following tools:

• State Department of Insurance complaint forms and State Medical Association complaint processes. Not sure if your complaint falls within the purview of your state’s department of insurance (DOI)? • File a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) complaint
  Use the AMA Complaint Form to inform the AMA about health insurers and other payers that are out of compliance with the HIPAA electronic transaction and code set standards. 
• Health plan complaint form
  Use the AMA Health Plan Complaint Form to let the AMA know about the hassles and unfair business practices you experience in your day-to-day interactions with health insurers. 
• Health insurer settlements
  The AMA has compiled pertinent information regarding the various health insurer settlements along with tools that may be utilized as a resource.
