Colony Stimulating Factors

Naming guidelines for colony stimulating factors:

1)  The suffix -stim is the common stem for colony stimulating factors.

Examples:  pegacaristim, romiplostim

2)  The suffix -grastim is used for granulocyte colony stimulating factors (G-CSF).

Examples:  filgrastim, lenograstim, pegfilgrastim, pegnartograstim

3)  The suffix -gramostim is used for granulocyte macrophage colony stimulating factors (GM-CSF).

Examples:  molgramostim, regramostim, sargramostim

4)  The suffix -mostim is used for macrophage colony stimulating factors (M-CSF).

Examples:  cilmostim, lanimostim

5)  The suffix -plestim is used for interleukin-3 (IL-3) factors classified as pleiotropic colony stimulating factors.

Examples:  daniplestim, muplestim

6)  The suffix -distim is used for conjugates of two different types of colony stimulating factors.

Examples:  leridistim, milodistim

7)  The suffix -cestim is used for stem cell stimulating factors.

Examples:  ancestim, garnocestim
