Clinical Practice Improvement and Patient Safety
With a longstanding commitment to clinical quality improvement and patient safety, the AMA applies science to medicine to help you ensure that your patients receive the highest quality of care.
Here you will discover how the AMA-convened Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement® (PCPI™) develops, tests, implements and disseminates evidence-based measures that reflect the best practice and best interest of medicine. Resources include a list of more than 280 PCPI performance measures and information about AMA positions on behalf of physicians to assess cost-efficiencies of care.
The AMA’s Center for Patient Safety works to enhance safety in the delivery of care. The Center for Patient Safety, through its multi-faceted Making Strides in Safety® program, encourages physician leadership, collaborative efforts, and involvement in safety and quality initiatives. The Center strives to provide resources that encourage safe, efficient, and effective patient care. Current resources include guidance on medication safety and reconciliation; information on Patient Safety Evaluation Centers and Patient Safety Organizations.
