"The AMA is committed to improving the health of all Americans by encouraging healthier lifestyle choices.
"The new plate-like graphic, introduced today by the USDA, clearly presents what a healthy meal should look like and makes it easier for people to translate food group recommendations directly onto their plates. The clearer emphasis on portion size and quantity is particularly important for achieving and maintaining a healthy weight.
"The AMA-developed Healthier Life Steps toolkit provides physicians with strategies and tools to help patients adopt healthy eating habits and improve physical activity. The toolkit can be downloaded for free from the AMA website."
