July 18, 2011

CHICAGO – The American Medical Association (AMA) today introduced a comprehensive set of new web-based solutions for coding and billing medical services that are available for the first time through a newly created interactive website. AMA Coding Online provides electronic access to authoritative coding and compliance resources, as well as updates to the latest coding, billing and compliance changes.

"The all-new online products are based on best-selling AMA coding resources that have been trusted and relied on for more than a decade," said Robert Musacchio, Ph.D, Senior Vice President of AMA Business Products and Services. "Regular electronic updates through AMA Coding Online ensure these web-based products stay current with the latest information that users need for accurate medical coding."

Highlights of the new coding references available on AMA Coding Online include:

CodeManager® Online: Standard, Professional and Elite versions include the CPT® Professional Edition, ICD-9-CM Volumes 1, 2 and 3, HCPCS Level II, Medicare rules, code reports and more. Additional features include date-of-service searching, local coverage determinations and two years of historical data. Seamless interaction with the other products in AMA Coding Online helps to make this product a smart coding investment. A 14-day free trial and free webinar are two ways to experience this premier coding and reference tool.

CPT® Assistant Online is an essential coding newsletter that is considered the authoritative voice of CPT and a direct link to AMA experts. Monthly updates and access to archived issues since 1990 can help answer daily coding questions, stay on top of changes and trends, train staff and validate coding to external sources.

Clinical Examples in Radiology Online is co-published by the AMA and the American College of Radiology. This quarterly updated newsletter helps improve the practical application of CPT radiology codes. This online format is also the only method of researching past issues since the newsletter.

RBRVS DataManager Online accurately calculates Medicare fee schedules and provides insight into the Resource-Based Relative Value Scale. Updated quarterly, or more frequently when necessary, this powerful program provides access to proprietary information related to the assignment of relative value units, a rationale for each code valuation, 10 years of Medicare utilization data for each CPT code, AMA RUC rationale, top-five related ICD-9-CM to CPT codes and more.

CPT® Changes Online is a quick link to current and historical CPT code and guideline changes since 2000. Updated annually, this invaluable reference searches by keyword, phrase, CPT code number, edition and CPT codebook table of contents. Detailed rationales for code changes, clinical examples, procedural descriptions, illustrations, and at-a-glance tabular review of code, text and guideline changes are just a few of the features available through this online product.

The products sold through AMA Coding Online range from $185 to $800 for a one-user, one-year subscription. As always, AMA members save 25 percent off the regular price for these products. Multi-year and multi-user discounts are also available. For additional information, please contact the AMA Unified Service Center at (800) 621-8335.
