Ohio Medical Student Justin B. Mahida Elected to the AMA Board of Trustees

CHICAGO – The American Medical Association (AMA) today announced Justin B. Mahida, a medical student at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, is elected to the AMA Board of Trustees. Mahida’s election to the medical student position on the board was confirmed today at the AMA Annual Meeting in Chicago.
“I am honored to be elected to the AMA Board of Trustees,” said Mr. Mahida. “I look forward to addressing the issues of physicians and the medical community from the unique perspective of a medical student.”
Mr. Mahida is entering his final year of medical school and plans to earn his medical degree and a master’s in business administration. He was elected by his fellow medical students to serve a one-year term on the AMA Board of Trustees.
Mr. Mahida has had an active role in the AMA Medical Student Section (AMA-MSS) In 2006, he served on the AMA-MSS Committee on Long Range Planning, to which he was elected chair in 2007. Mahida served as chair of the House Coordinating Committee at the AMA’s 2007 meeting, where he coordinated students’ efforts to present the largest number of resolutions to the House of Delegates to date. In 2008, Mahida was appointed to the Council on Long Range Planning and Development.
In Columbus, Ohio, Mahida serves on the Board of Trustees of Access Health Columbus, a local not-for-profit public-private partnership. As part of a business internship, Mahida works with the Ohio State University Medical Center in commercializing innovations in health care research and delivery. He actively participates with the Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA) in representing physicians in Ohio, having served for two years as an alternate delegate to the AMA House of Delegates (HOD). Mr. Mahida also routinely sees patients in both the Columbus Free Clinic and the Physicians Free Clinic.
Mr. Mahida graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, earning bachelor’s degrees in physics and classical studies. Mahida lives in Columbus, Ohio.
