AMA Statement on Vote to Repeal IRS 1099 Reporting Requirement

April 5, 2011

Attributable to:
J. James Rohack, MD
Immediate Past President, American Medical Association

“The American Medical Association applauds the passage of bi-partisan legislation to repeal the IRS 1099 reporting requirement for businesses, including physician practices. Existing administrative burdens already weigh heavily on physicians, taking up time that is better spent caring for patients. The AMA urges President Obama to sign the bi-partisan legislation repealing this unnecessary and burdensome requirement.”
