CHICAGO – Amagine, Inc., a subsidiary of the American Medical Association (AMA), and the Connecticut State Medical Society today announced they are teaming up to offer the AMAGINE physician portal to Connecticut physicians. This agreement paves the way to enable joint outreach strategies to encourage the adoption of health information technology (health IT) to Connecticut physicians.
This is Amagine’s second agreement with a state medical society and its first since the AMAGINE physician portal became nationally available in April of this year. In 2009, the Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) and the AMA began a pilot project to provide MSMS members with health IT products and services. The success of the pilot project has now opened the door for all state and specialty medical societies to make the portal available to their members.
“Small and solo physician practices, which represent more than 80% of Connecticut physicians, are at a distinct disadvantage when it comes to the kind of investment necessary to integrate health IT. The AMAGINE portal will allow CSMS members to have access to a suite of solutions developed by those who know and understand physicians and their needs best,” said Matthew C. Katz, CSMS executive vice president. “We believe that providing our members with this kind of support at a considerable discount will help them transition to new technologies where they can better monitor and manage their patients’ care.”
“We are excited to partner with the Connecticut State Medical Society and bring the AMAGINE physician portal to the state’s physicians,” said Robert Mussacchio, Senior Vice President, Business Product Solutions of the AMA. “The AMAGINE portal was designed with physicians’ needs in mind and can help physicians in all practice sizes determine their health IT needs and devise a plan to adopt new technologies.”
The AMAGINE physician portal provides a single point of access to over 20 health IT solutions and resources, including certified modular and complete electronic health record products. The portal also provides access to registries, electronic prescribing, claims management, communication services, knowledge base tools and AMA publications. AMAGINE consultants perform practice assessments to determine a medical practice’s readiness to adopt advanced health IT and make tailored recommendations. The AMAGINE portal is powered by the cloud computing platform provider, Covisint, a Compuware Company.
