“The AMA applauds First Lady Michelle Obama and the Interagency Childhood Obesity Task Force for their report on how to solve the epidemic of childhood obesity.
“As physicians, we know the importance of instilling healthy habits early in a person’s life and getting all family members involved in making healthy food choices and increasing physical activity. Getting and staying healthy really is a team effort.
“To help physicians help parents and children learn good health behaviors, the AMA is expanding its Healthier Life Steps toolkit to include action plans for healthy eating and increased physical activity for children. We look forward to a continued partnership with Mrs. Obama on this important initiative to help improve the health of our nation’s children.”
