“On the Road with Dr. Rohack” to chronicle experiences, observations
CHICAGO – As part of its ongoing communication with patients and physicians, the American Medical Association will launch its first-ever blog today from AMA President J. James Rohack, M.D. Through the blog, titled “On the Road with Dr. Rohack,” he will chronicle his thoughts on health care in America, discuss the leading issues affecting patients and physicians and share with readers his front-row view of the evolving health-reform debate.
“As I travel the nation, it is an honor to speak with patients and physicians who share innovative thoughts on improving our health system for everyone,” said Dr. Rohack. “My hope is that this blog will serve as a vehicle to share my experiences and give physicians and patients a window into the AMA’s work on their behalf.”
This year as AMA president, Dr. Rohack will spend about 200 days crisscrossing the country speaking and working with physicians to ensure that the AMA continues to address the issues most important to America’s patients and physicians, including efforts to reform the nation’s health system by combating managed care abuses, eliminating a flawed Medicare physician payment formula, reforming the broken medical liability system and developing ethical guidance for the practice of medicine. The AMA is a strong voice for patients and physicians in the health-reform debate to ensure coverage for all and make system improvements that help physicians do what they do best - care for patients.
“During this historic time of health reform, it is crucial to keep the lines of communication open, and this blog will add to AMA's efforts to keep patients and physicians informed and engaged in the debate,” said Dr. Rohack.
