President-elect, American Medical Association
"The American Medical Association (AMA) continues to express deep concern about the arrest and impending trial of 47 physicians and other health care professionals in Bahrain simply for doing their job. Providing care to those in need is not a crime - treating all individuals without discrimination is a fundamental tenet of medical ethics.
"The AMA encourages America's physicians to write to Bahraini officials, using a sample letter from our website, and join the world's medical community in urging the fair treatment of the health care professionals detained in Bahrain."
