AMA Statement on Stage 2 Meaningful Use Final Rule

For immediate release:
Aug. 23, 2012

Statement attributable to:
Steven J. Stack, MD
American Medical Association Board Chair

“The American Medical Association has provided ongoing input since the inception of the EHR incentive program and has urged greater flexibility to make the program more reasonable and achievable for physicians. In a comment letter submitted by the AMA and 100 state and specialty medical societies in May, recommendations were outlined to eliminate physician roadblocks and encourage greater physician participation.

“We will carefully review the final rule and hope to see the changes we advocated for to promote widespread adoption and meaningful use of EHRs by physicians.”
