This booklet, developed by the AMA's Private Sector Advocacy unit, provides physicians and their office staff with an understanding of what happens to a claim once it leaves the practice.

It follows the claims as it moves along the claims submission and health plan processing network. This critical information can be used by physicians to better address the delay, denial, and reduced payment tactics of health plans.

It will also help physicians to understand how to most efficiently get a claim processed in order to receive timely and full payment.
