Prerequisites: Unusual opportunity for a “last-minute” decision for additional training in PET/nuclear medicine: Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles has expanded its PET/CT program and is offering an additional PET fellowship position starting July 2008. The 1-year fellowship in clinical PET/CT offers an excellent educational experience incorporating all aspects of PET/CT as well as SPECT imaging. The position is unique in providing one-on-one teaching by Dr. Alan Waxman, Director of Nuclear Medicine, renowned for his broad expertise in Nuclear Medicine and his dedication to teaching. Prerequisites: Required training for Preventive Medicine consists of a minimum of one U.S.- based clinical year (usually taken outside of a PMR), an academic year, and a practicum year. We do not offer a PGY-1 year; in order to be accepted to our PMR, you must have completed at least one PGY year in North America. The academic program for the Emory PMR is provided by the Rollins School of Public Health of Emory University. A core curriculum, which fulfills the requirements of the School as well as those of the American Board of Preventive Medicine, is supplemented by a concentration in an area of the resident’s choosing. The program requires 12 months (42 credits) and may or may not include a master’s thesis, depending on the area of concentration. During the academic phase, the resident has considerable opportunity to develop research activities that will carry over into the practicum phase, and, in fact, these two phases may be combined (though the M.P.H. year may not follow the practicum).
