About YPS Assembly Meetings

The AMA-YPS Assembly meets twice yearly (typically June and November) prior to the AMA House of Delegates meeting. The Assembly includes official delegates from state medical societies, national medical specialty societies, and the Military branches. Other young physicians are also welcome to attend the meeting as guests. All participants must be under the age of 40 or in practice fewer than eight years after completing residency/fellowship (if over the age of 40). Meetings offer many benefits:

• Opportunity to represent the interests of your young physician colleagues within the AMA
• Ability to submit a resolution to establish an AMA-YPS Governing Council directive to take action
• Capability of creating AMA policy or initiating AMA action
• Network with other physicians at the same point in their practices or careers
• Chance to network with national leaders from your specialty or from your state
• Participate in mode-of-practice forums
• Receive CME credit on subjects that benefit your practice
• Run for elected Governing Council office
• Gain leadership experience by serving on Assembly committees
• Receive personalized mentoring training in organized medicine’s political education process
• Gain visibility among your colleagues, both nationally as well as locally
