Resources, products, services

Successful medical practiceSuccessful medical practice
We have products to ensure you have a successful medical practice. The practice environment you choose and the contract you sign can determine your professional and financial success, as well as the kind of care you provide your patients. We also offer exclusive product portfolios to help you balance work/life needs, and practice mangement resources.

Private Sector Advocacy
We identify abusive managed care practices and develop campaigns to place public pressure on HMOs and health insurers to reverse these practices. Campaigns include prompt payment, claims processing, and health insurance complaints.

Clinical practice tools
We offer resources on HIPAA, and patient information. Also see our wide array of publications in the AMA Bookstore. We offer easy access to literature searches, and public health information.

Continuing medical education
Online CME, Physician's Recognition Award, CME activity survey for sponsors, CME/CPPD Report, and International CME.

Policy groups
AMA sections and interest groups amplify the voices of individual AMA members. The AMA Council on Medical Service develops reports on the socioeconomic factors that influence the practice of medicine. Reports cover a wide range of topics, including:

  • Medicare and Medicaid
  • Managed care
  • Expanding coverage and patients' choice of health plans
  • Hospitals and hospital-based services
  • Pharmaceutical coverage and spending
  • e-Health
  • Allied health professionals

Policy development (YPS Assembly)
The AMA-YPS is represented and directly involved in all levels of the AMA. We are a powerful voice to speak out on issues affecting you and how you practice medicine. We advocate for change in areas such as collective negotiations, liability reform, and reasonable drug costs.

Ethics
We focus on professionalism. Our Virtual Mentor program interactively explores ethics and professionalism issues.

The Joint Commission (TJC)
