AMA journal chosen for MEDLINE indexing

CHICAGO — The American Medical Association (AMA) announces that the AMA's Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness journal has been selected for indexing by MEDLINE, the U.S. National Library of Medicine's (NLM) premier bibliographic database. The AMA' Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness is the first comprehensive and authoritative journal emphasizing public health preparedness and disaster response.

"The AMA's Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness is the only journal that truly integrates the overarching medical and public health perspectives by targeting the individuals in the many disciplines of disaster planning and response," said Editor-in-Chief James J. James, MD, DrPH, MHA. "Having the journal fully indexed and searchable in MEDLINE will ensure the widest academic distribution for leading researchers and practitioners in the field." Dr. James is also Director of the AMA's Center for Public Health Preparedness and Disaster Response.

Each quarterly issue of the journal presents original research, critical analysis, and commentary, with an emphasis on translating scientific concepts into practice and integrating the medical and public health perspectives. All issues will be fully indexed, including medical subject headings. Health care professionals and members of the public can access MEDLINE at www.pubmed.gov. The journal is also available to subscribers at www.dmphp.org.

MEDLINE is the leading tool for online searching of the health sciences literature in the United States and worldwide. Journals are selected for indexing in MEDLINE after careful review by the NLM's Literature Selection Technical Review Committee, based on issues such as the journal's scope and coverage and the quality of its scientific content and editorial work.
