AMA welcomes new Vice President for Government Affairs

The American Medical Association is pleased to announce that Cynthia Brown, a highly respected advocate for physicians, will join the organization as the Vice President of Government Affairs. In this capacity, Brown will oversee the AMA’s Divisions of Congressional Affairs, Federal Affairs and Legislative Counsel.

“I look forward to working with the AMA Advocacy team on issues vital to America’s patients and physicians,” said Brown. “I hope to enhance the AMA’s relationships in Washington and work to ensure that the AMA voice is heard loud and clear.”

Brown comes to the AMA from the American College of Surgeons (ACS) after more than twenty years of dedicated service. She served as the Director of the ACS Division of Advocacy and Health Policy. Prior to ACS, Cindy worked at the American Tort Reform Association, the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association and as a staff assistant on the U.S. House Subcommittee on Health and the Environment (Energy and Commerce Committee).

“Her experience in government affairs and health policy within the physician community make Cindy a valuable addition to the AMA Advocacy team,” said Rich Deem, Senior Vice President of Advocacy. Cindy will join the AMA on April 21.
