About the Committee

Previously a convention committee, the HOD Coordinating Committee (HCC) is now a standing MSS committee whose members are appointed to full, one-year terms. HCC supports the MSS Delegate and Alternate Delegate, as well as student members of their state delegations, in forming a common and well-informed position on resolutions and reports presented to the AMA House of Delegates. The committee is also responsible for coordinating student testimony for HOD reference committees for all student-authored resolutions.

In addition to its duties pertaining to business in the AMA House of Delegates, HCC works to improve the quality of resolutions submitted for consideration by the MSS Assembly.  Through the preparation of informational resources and through direct work with resolution authors, HCC ensures that MSS resolutions call for feasible policy, are thoroughly researched, and are well-written.

Resolution alternatives
Sometimes it may not be necessary or appropriate to submit a resolution for consideration by the MSS Assembly. Please review this helpful guide to determine if there are other ways to achieve your goal.

Resolution deadlines (I-08)

• Sept. 5, 2008 - Resolution draft must be posted to MSS Health Policy and News listserv
• Sept. 19, 2008 - Final draft of resolution and completed resolution checklist must be submitted

Get Involved

Serve on the HCC Convention Committee at a national meeting
Before and during each MSS Annual and Interim meeting, HCC expands in size.  HCC Convention Committee applications for I-08 are due Sept. 5, 2008.

Serve as an MSS Regional Delegate
2009 Regional Delegate applications are due Oct. 1, 2008.
