How does AMA Therapeutic Insights increase the transparency of physician prescribing data?
For the first time, physicians are given access to disease-specific prescribing data and other therapy-related information in a unique CME professional development activity. AMA Therapeutic Insights offers physicians a new opportunity to improve the quality of patient care through a greater understanding of prescribing and treatment information.
How is prescribing data used for the benefit of the public?
Prescribing data are utilized by public health agencies for a variety of purposes, including studies about drug interactions, prescribing trends, long-term effects of medications, and prevention of medical errors. Medical Researchers also use prescribing information for applications such as setting and promoting public policy, accelerating healthcare innovations, driving best clinical practice, monitoring drug safety, and clinical trial recruitment.
The AMA gives special recognition to the California Medical Association, Connecticut State Medical Society, and Michigan State Medical Society for their ground-breaking participation in the AMA Therapeutic Insights program.

AMA Therapeutic Insights has been certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. The program content will be developed in compliance with AMA Standards for Industry-Supported Multimedia Continuing Medical Education and Other Communications and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Education (ACCME) Essential Elements. The AMA is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
